Ekklesia (name of the oldies' cell group)

not so silent night w/ pris

The majority of today was spent at home, resting and watching teevee. Yup I was at my favourite channel today - okay wait that isn't correct. I don't have a favourite channel, and I still can't tell the difference between National Geographic and Discovery Channel! LOL! Because both channels show stuffs that are of interest to me, I find it very tough to differentiate them!

But I strongly believe that I was watching natgeo earlier in the afternoon after coming home from a proj meeting in school. It was showing the signs of the end as prophesied by John who wrote Revelations. I fell asleep halfway :(

On a side note, my cell group officially has a name! We call ourselves ECCLESIA (ekklesia). It is the hebrew word for church! :)
CHS's 30th anniversary is fast approaching and we've got tons to prepare before the celebratory dinner. The choir has to sing and the cell groups have to come up with a banner each. It is indeed exciting to see the work God has done in our church the past 30 years. Though I only joined for the last 18 over years, I have seen how CHS has prospered over the years. And I am so excited for bigger growth, especially for Point Comm.

But also, my heart has to be ready to receive them too. I pray for an open and welcoming heart so that I can embrace them with the love from Jesus Christ.

Anyway I do hope tmr will be a nice-weathered day. I'll be walking around a very sunny (I hope) island all day.

Jedi oh, we were there at different timings! It's okay la, we'll meet during weekends anyway :)

-

Jedi shared with me this youtube video about a teenager who made her stand during a UN conference. It really put me in deep thought. Anyway here it is, just to share-

Don't have to watch it cos it's of quite poor quality. But listen to what she was saying. Apparently Jedi shared this with me because he felt there was some similarity in my last post and her speech. I really do hope we do something to save our earth. I am already trying my best to practice the 3Rs - Reuse, Reduce & Recycle.

  • Reuse - After each time of grocery shopping, I will fold the plastic bags and keep them to lay over my dustbin (I know most people do this too, and this is one simple way of conserving our environment!)
  • Reduce - Whilst shopping, I try as far as possible to not get plastic bags, I mean why get them if you can easily put them in your bags? :) Also, when I need to bring extra changes of clothes, I use a drawstring bag (it's very pretty with pink polka dots) from daiso (only $2!) instead of ziplog bags to store my clothes. Simple things like switching off the lights and power plugs when not in use can save electricity and energy!
  • Recycle - Simple recycling like selling off newspapers and recyclable items can go a long way! Accumulation goes very far! I need to print my lecture notes for school, and I usually print it double side; but of late I have been printing my notes on the other side of used paper. Good way to recycle!!

Everyone has to understand that our natural resources are depleting! I don't want my children and grandchildren to suffer :( The girl's speech was really inspiring and thoughtful. You may think you are too small to make a difference but it is only through your small contributions that will accumulate and become big! Come on, and you may even be able to rub some of the green spirit to the people around you.

As mentioned yesterday, I was reading the featured article from TIME Oct 5 09 "Heroes of the Environment - Our annual guide to the leaders, entrepreneurs, scientists and activists who are working to help the planet" and I was so touched by their individual stories!

If anyone's interested, I can lend them my battered issue of TIME (I was the only reader lol, and it's alrdy in a bad condition) to read!

It's everybody's part to play, and we all should be responsible for this place we call our home - Earth. Becos my God created it! And I love His creations. So I plead for you to stop hurting her :(

Okay I'm starting to sound more and more like an activist :S
I guess people just need to be aware of the extent of the damage we've done to Earth.
Watch Natgeo, Discovery Channel & Animal Planet & READ MORE!! :)

Channel Nat Geo

Sahara Desert; Credits here

Ever heard of a rainforest in the midst of a desert? Quite impossible isn't it?
Was watching "Animals At The Edge" on National Geographic at 3pm today. It featured some nearly extinct species and is really intriguing.

I am also starting to read this special Environment report on TIME, 5th Oct 09 issue.
Pastor Ben was just sharing with me on Saturday, after he came back from their annual family trip to Vancouver, that the place they resided in was surrounded by nature. It was like Man built around nature, instead of destroying it. And each time you awoke, you are greeted by the great big mountains that Papa God created around you.

We really have to stop destroying our earth. It is really not morally right to see the animals being pushed to extinction because of our activities. It doesn't mean that because we've got a variety of animals kept in captivity in our zoos and national parks, that we don't have to worry about species being extinct. These living creatures were specially moulded by God and they all have an important role in maintaining the food chain (ahh I lost the word to better describe it.)

My heart cries out for nature. Her beauty being destroyed by deforestation and hunting. It is really nice to see the wonderful animals around us. Just this evening I was standing face to face with a beautiful lassie dog at my home bus stop. It's fur was a light golden brown colour and it was huge, majestic. Wow!

Okay, this post wasn't supposed to be so emo and all, but I can't help it la. Today was spent resting at home (I was resting a lot) and teaching my cousins at tg rhu.

I fear I may be coming down with a fierce bout of influenza. Please do pray! Thanks!

Emmanuel - God with us!

Happy happy blessed 17th, dear brother!

Just last sunday was Ernest's birthday. Planned an impromptu cake cutting for that little brother. He's a late bloomer, but definitely a very mature one. So thankful for this boy- growing up- in my life.
Made him a present but only managed to pass to him today. Hope he likes it :)

Christmas - a joyous time to remember the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. He is the Risen King and the reason why we're still here today.

Enter ROCK RHYME REASON - the fruit of our (Point Community, CHS) labour. All our hard work paid off during the 19th Dec, with a total number of 79 attendees.
It was pure fun, with games, sharing, good food, live band and presents! :)
Everyone got to bring a present home and I was really encouraged by the turnout of the event. PTL!! ♥

Let the fire burn\

Let the fire burn, don't quench it.

One of the biggest and most beautiful campfires I've seen in life, and I was part of its creation too :)
Our campfire tower stood strong, and lasted longer than the usual ones, before crumbling down. And even though it reduced to a heap of broken wood, we were able to build new levels, despite the blazing heat.
I am thankful for God's creations! :)

The Ninja called, he's getting ready for his rest before his graduation march at 0500hours. Earlier in the evening I was greeted by the Pegasus, leaving me with some depressing news. He was back in Mainland Singapore, which isn't a good thing. Both Ninja and Pegasus is scheduled to POP tomorrow. Press on in prayer.

Meanwhile, the Cougar sent me a text that made my heart leap for joy. Seems like I'll be taking a day vacation to Tekong once again for his POP on Wednesday. I am really thankful and blessed! And then I will get to see the Apache boy in his full gear too! So thankful and relieved for some good news. Press on in prayer.

-

Breakthrough, sure feels like a lot of fun. Relief and gladness washes over me. But I cannot help feeling anxious and afraid of the things to come. Test date is looming ahead. I am barely ready for anything. Battle scars fading away, but not forgotten. I was so excited to receive Ernest's text while I was boarding my bus to go home. It lifted my spirits up, leaving me more breathing space to deal with my other worries. A friend, has been very faithful, prayerful, and supportive.

-

Number as of last night: A whooping 56!!
Climbing up to a crazy high of 77 right now! (tentative: 11)
This is not the time to feel jittery. Harvest is just round the corner. Everyone please buckle up and start playing farmville (plow, sow & harvest)

Glow oh Glow, are we ready for this?
Call me, you must, you promised. Before I get overwhelmed and swept away by my other commitments next week.

-

School tmr, and driving. Time to pray.
Give thanks, with a grateful heart.
